Moving On...

I'm now 8,000 words into my rewrite of my wip. Not as impressive as the 25,000 I had, but not too bad for just under a week's worth of writing. I decided to call it rewrite, so it didn't feel so much like I was just tossing it out :-).

I decided to let the ms(Picture Me) that was rejected by ModX just sit. Maybe forever, but I'm not making any commitments. Since it's only around 60,000 words, it's not really the right length for any other publishers I know of. So I'd need to do some major work to make it right for somewhere else. And it's just not what I want to do right now. This story is the one calling, so I'm answering :-).

It feels like a waste to not at least try subbing Picture Me more, but I guess I don't see the use right now. So oh well...

I've decided I'm moving on and I'm terribly happy with the decision so I suppose it's the right one.

How's your writing going?

April

It's all about having the confidence and courage to write.
I have been on all of the Word Flirt sites and I feel so inspired to write. I feel welcomed and motivated. And that's not an easy combination to achieve.
Thanks x

One thing I've learned with writing and with my other job is to always go with your gut. So if your new story is calling, then that's what you should write. Especially if it makes you happy!

Glad your writing is working for you April.

I was hoping to come back from London inspired and motivated to continue with my wip, but thanks to Swayze again I'm feeling yucky and down.

I've decided to leave my wip 'til I'm feeling better and concentrate on a short story competition entry.

Sue :-)

I was going to say the same thing as Emma - thought about subbing Picture Me to an epub? You should give it a go...

Glad you're making such progress with the rewrite!!!

I'm kind of in the same place you are right now. I've started over on my current story (a few times now). But it feels like the right decision because I honestly had no clue where the story was going before now.

Hi April! I'm so excited by your new book and well, for the old one -- hang on to it -- who knows, maybe if they like this one, they'll ask to see what else you have! Then all you have to do is say - HERE!!! And if they like the concept enough - they might just tell you what they want out of it! Then you'd have TWO books sold instead of just one. ;)

Good luck!

Caroline, so glad you're enjoying the flirts' blogs. And even happier if anything you've read on them has inspired you!

I have considered epubs, but I haven't subbed because I believe I have found a fatal flaw in the story and I haven't wanted to take the time to fix it :-).

Sue, I think we all need to gang up on Patrick!!

Thanks, Karen!

Good point, Tess... I had a clue where it was going, I think it was how it was getting there I had the most trouble with :-)

Thanks for the positive thinking, Cole! One can always hope ;-)

Writing? What writing? I'm taking a break :)

You could always consider sending the book to an epub. Some only own rights to it for a short time, and you get your name out there! (I'm an epub addict, we all know it!)

I'm in the same boat. Just threw out the majority of a ms. But better right than wrong... right? : )

Hey April! Sorry to hear about the R from ModX!! That's so cool to have even subbed overseas! I intended to sub mine this month, but alas, it is not finished. LOL

Best of luck with your new book! I LOVE starting a new story! :)
